Hello everyone,

My name is Karl Barclay.

Welcome to my teaching portfolio. This is where I showcase my work and experiences as a Writing Mentor at Arizona State University.

I’m currently majoring in Business with a concentration in Information Security, and I have a background in graphic design. My preferred modes of communication are writing and video, and growing up, creative writing was my favorite hobby.

This website serves as a home for my reflections as a Writing Mentor, the resources I’ve created for students, and the ideas that shape my approach to teaching. It’s also a space where graduate school committees, hiring managers, instructors, and peers can learn more about my evolving praxis, and lifelong learning journey.

Maybe the following assertion is just a function of my own individual pedagogy at ASU so far, but the Info-Sec Curriculum, in my view, is the Human Resources degree of the future.
I feel so much more competent in the areas of Communication and Conflict management, I feel equipped to understand the personal philosophies of individuals at a glance, i’m more than just intuitive now. I can purposefully deconstruct Logical fallacy and provide principled feedback. I haven’t even scratched the technical curriculum yet but i’m feeling pretty ready to get back out there, but I won’t. Not until I graduate.
The Art Institutes of Ft LauderdaleThis is where i became familiar with WordPress, HTML & CSS as well as the Adobe suite, Design theory and color psychology.

Why Dos Gatos?

Tengo dos gatos.

Aside from that, it sounded cool.

It started with my two cats though.

Then I had a late-night conversation with Chat GPT about naming my teaching portfolio. I floated the idea of dosgatos.ceo as a joke, just to see what would happen.

Chat GPT responded with something oddly encouraging and humorous.
I laughed, sat with it for a second, then bought the domain.

The domain name for this website is a nod to the unconventional circumstances I face in life, the unorthodox teaching style I learnt at ASU, and an attractive reminder for me to continue to be curious and humorous.

The best ideas come from the most unexpected places.
