Business Profile Writing in ENG 101

This sample comes from my ENG 101 era, back when the course included a business profile project. ENG 101 has since shifted toward personal literacy narratives. Those narratives can be meaningful and reflective, but I still miss the older assignment’s practical value. A well-executed business profile is the kind of writing you can actually get paid to produce, y’know? That real-world use-case was a big part of what excited me about becoming a Writing Mentor. I liked the idea of learning about local businesses, practicing how to write about them, and even doing a little networking along the way.

This piece was my first serious attempt at business-profile writing, and it’s also the start of an ongoing portfolio series. I try to attempt the curriculum’s “final project” each semester to keep my skills sharp and to keep myself busy. Honestly, it’s a little depressing how often this kind of work just disappears into the void, unread by anyone other than the instructor who graded it. That’s the real reason I’m posting it here. I’m always a bit worried about getting called-out as “fake writer,” but if I stop writing and never share the work, that call-out becomes a valid. It’s definitely not perfect, but I think it got better over time. Think of this as Post #1 in a series that might eventually turn into a book or a YouTube video.
